Innovations for Clean Water
The County Septic Improvement Grant Program (SIP) provides installation grants up to $20,000 per property depending upon whether your project qualifies. The New York State Septic System Replacement Program (NYS SSRP) provides installation grants or reimbursements up to 75% of the program eligible costs not to exceed $25,000 per property depending upon whether your project qualifies.
$20K if the property is located in the Water Protection District or you qualify for low-moderate income; $15K if the property is outside the Water Protection District. The incentive can directly pay the specific vendors for your installation! Remaining funds can be reimbursed to the homeowner as a rebate for additional costs. Residential and commercial owners with existing systems are eligible for the incentive.
The I/A OWTS (Innovative/Alternative Onsite Wastewater Treatment System) Rebate Program provides eligible property owners in Southampton, NY, with up to $25,000 in combined base rebates and income incentives to replace outdated, polluting cesspools with advanced nitrogen-reducing septic systems.
The maximum Base Grant that can be allocated to a project is $12,000. Approval of the Base Grant is based on an evaluation of the benefit (nitrate reduction) to be provided to the aquifer. The evaluation includes location sensitivity, nitrate reduction scoring, and the type and/or condition of the existing system.
Nassau County has initiated a septic system replacement program for residents, small businesses, and non-profit organizations — Septic Environmental Program to Improve Cleanliness (S.E.P.T.I.C.). The SEPTIC program will provide grant funding to eligible recipients to replace a conventional or failing septic system with an innovative and alternative onsite wastewater treatment system. Nassau County is offering grants up to $35,000 for homeowners or small businesses to install state-of-the-art nitrogen-reducing septic systems.
